- In a study of teens, binge drinkers showed abnormal functioning in the hippocampus, a key area for memory formation. These teens did more poorly on learning verbal material than their non-drinking counterparts.
- Drinking alcohol while taking certain medications can cause problems; according to a recent government study, there are more than 150 medications that should not be mixed with alcohol.
- Even when the exact same amount of alcohol is consumed, women are reported to be more affected by drinking then men.
