- The rate of current alcohol use among youth ages 12 to 17 was almost sixteen percent during 2007, according to research by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA).
- Heavy drinkers are at least nine times more likely to get cancer than those who drink in moderation or not at all.
- Alcohol, especially when consumed in excess, can affect teens, women, men, and the elderly quite differently.
- Children who reported being warned about alcohol by their parents and children who reported being closer to their parents were less likely to begin using alcohol.
