  • Many aspects of alcohol's health effects have not been studied, including various systems of the body that include the immune system, gall bladder function, and arthritis; thus the importance of supporting alcohol research funding.
  • According to a current report from the U.S. Task Force on Community Preventive Services, there is little evidence that designated programs actually reduce the rate of drunk driving and alcohol-related crashes, as few designated drivers actually completely abstain from drinking. The report concluded that in a great many instances, the least-intoxicated person is chosen to be the driver, which defeats the purpose of the program.
